Moel Y Guest Circular Walk
This moderately challenging circular walk near Tremadog, Gwynedd, offers breathtaking panoramic views from the summit of Moel y Gest. The trail includes a mix of woodland paths, rocky ridges, and open countryside, making it a great option for hikers looking for a bit of variety.
Route Directions
- Start by crossing the A497 at Caregfelen Main Drive. 
- Turn left and follow the footpath uphill through the woodland opposite. 
- As you climb, the path becomes steeper and more rugged, leading onto the ridge. 
- The trail along the ridge can be tricky to follow, but stick to the highest point and look out for occasional scrambles. 
- Take in stunning views of Porthmadog, Cardigan Bay, and the Snowdonia mountains. 
Descent & Return
- Follow the ridge down, picking up the path that leads through open fields. 
- Be mindful of horses and livestock—this is a popular spot for grazing, so keep dogs on a lead if needed. 
- Continue along the path, which eventually loops back towards the starting point at Caregfelen.
